Today in my Family History

My dad, who is now deceased, was born on this day in 1917. He died in 1997, at the age of 80 and would be 90 years old if he were alive today. He was the second of nine children. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a Catholic all his life, the husband of Rita, to whom he had been married for more than 50 years, and the father of five children. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus, and a Chicago White Sox fan (He was "the encylopedia of baseball" - at least my friends called him that.) He loved the outdoors, fishing, bird watching, gardening, woodcarving, and family prayer. He was a great dad and a loving husband to my mom, who passed away five years later.
