The Spirituality and Miracles of St. Clare of Assisi
August 11 is the memorial of St. Clare, one of my favorite saints. She was the first woman to follow the life of radical poverty practiced by St. Francis of Assisi and is the co-founder of the Poor Clares. Although I am not a Franciscan, I have had Franciscan friends, clergy, and spiritual directors instruct me on the beauty of St. Clare's spirituality. I have also learned a great deal from reading about her over the years. Clare and Francis (2007) is a film which depicts the fascinating story of her dramatic conversion and surrender to the will of God. St. Clare is the patron saint of television. ReplyDeleteI know very little French, but to me, just watching the film, is so inspiring. It really conveys a positive message and reflects a deep sanctity.

ReplyDeleteat the beggining the Sister sings.
" God come to my assistance", " from my sins deliver me, erase all my faults", then it fades with the doxolgy.
the video part the Sisters are praying intercession, with the response, "Lord have mercy, o Christ have mercy".
later the Prioress , during the clothing is just reading the symbol behiond each garment as the new Novice is attired.puting on the 'new man" , and the next is difficult to hear but basically she says," May the Bessed Virgin Mary, in whose protection is symbolized by this scapular, preserve your body and soul and sopme thnigs about assurance..etc.."
after its the Angelus and Hail Maries...then during the photos are bieng sung parts like,"O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee,"
To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary."

My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips"
