Pro-Life Organizations Announce Efforts to Stop Taxpayer Funded Abortions in the Obama/Pelosi Health Care Plan

The name of the campaign is called "Abortion is Not Health Care" and it will begin on Sunday, July 26, in Washington, D.C.

A vote on the $1.5 trillion bill has been tentatively scheduled for the last week of July before the August recess.

"Abortion is Not Health Care" will include public prayer vigils, rallies, lobbying, demonstrations and cutting edge pro-life witness on Capitol Hill.

President Obama and his team have said that taxpayer funded abortions would be included in his health care plan.

The campaign will focus on fighting to ensure that:

  • Not one penny of public money is used to pay for abortions.
  • The "Conscience Clause" is not removed from health providers that decline to perform abortions.
  • No federal mandate requiring health plans to cover abortions.
  • No state law restricting abortion would be invalidated.
  • Planned Parenthood never becomes an "essential community health provider."

    "Abortion is Not Health Care" is being organized by the Christian Defense Coalition and Operation Rescue.

    Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, states,

    "The most critical item on the pro-life agenda is stopping the Obama/Pelosi health care plan which includes taxpayer funded abortions. If abortion becomes part of a health care entitlement, it will add at least 25 years to our struggle toward ending the violence of abortion in America.

    "If President Obama and Speaker Pelosi have their way, Pro-life Catholics and Evangelicals would be forced to pay for abortions. People of good will who believe that human rights begin in the womb would have to pay for the brutal crushing of that innocent life.

    "'Abortion is Not Health Care' will be a public and prophetic witness to ensure that tax dollars are never used to diminish women and trample social justice.

    "President Obama talks about being a progressive leader who embraces human rights and equality for all. It is tragic that he would turn health care, which is supposed to heal and bring comfort to those in need, into something that destroys innocent life."

      Not only does Obama not support life, but his health care plan itself, if enacted, would destroy children, young adults, and all people who would find both the quality and availability of their care severely diminished and mismanaged.
      Respectfully, a Family Nurse Practitioner who knows what folly and insanity are when she sees it!

      If Osama-care passes, we may find ourselves with very few doctors. Many will retire, others will just quit. I know of at lease 1 who said they would get the extra education they needed and become a Veterinarian.

      At least they may be able to make a living.

    Today is the feast of Saint Michael de Sanctis, also known as St. Michael of the Saints, a Spanish Discalced Trinitarian priest, the patron of cancer patients. Michael Argemir was born on September 29, 1591 at Vic, Catalonia, Spain. At age 6, he told his parents that he planned to become a monk and began modeling his life after Saint Francis of Assisi. Michael’s parents died when he was about ten years old. He then served as an apprentice with a local merchant. During this apprenticeship, he continued his fervent devotion to the Lord, especially to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.     The saint of the day for August 31 is St. Raymond Nonnatus. He is the patron of expectant mothers, midwives, obstetricians, infertile couples, and newborn babies. Raymond was born at Portella, Catalonia, Spain in 1204, the son of wealthy parents. He was delivered by cesarean section when his mother died in childbirth. Hence his name non natus (not born). In his childhood, he seemed to find pleasure only in his devotions and serious duties. His father, sensing that Raymond was drawn to religious life, ordered him to manage one of the family farms. Raymond readily obeyed but spent his time with the shepherds and workers, studying and praying until his father abandoned the idea of making his son a worldly success. Raymond later joined the the Order of Our Lady of Mercy or the Mercederians, which was founded by St. Peter Nolasco, who devoted to ransoming Christians captured by the Moors.
