Stand for Marriage Coalition Launches Web Site

(Portland, Maine)--- Stand for Marriage Maine, a broad-based coalition formed to pass a Peoples' Veto to overturn the recent gay marriage law, announced the launch of their website today.

The website serves as the campaign's online headquarters for supporters of traditional marriage to receive petitions, send in their donations, get the latest information about the campaign, and learn how to volunteer for the People's Veto effort.

"The response of Mainers wanting to help qualify the Peoples' Veto is overwhelming, and this new website gives our supporters another opportunity to get involved with this very important issue", said Marc Mutty of Stand for Marriage Maine. "Our coalition will use the website to educate people about the importance of restoring traditional marriage."

Mutty expressed confidence that Stand For Marriage Maine will collect well in excess of the required 55,087 registered voter signatures to put a referendum on the November ballot to overturn gay marriage.

"An issue as important as the very institution of marriage deserves a vote of citizens of Maine," said Bob Emrich, another leader of the Stand for Marriage Maine coalition. "Our website is part of a comprehensive effort to restore the definition of marriage to what Maine, and of course all of human civilization, has known it to be - between a man and a woman."

The Stand for Marriage Maine coalition is led by the Catholic Diocese of Portland, the Maine Jeremiah Project, and the National Organization for Marriage (NOM); and is comprised of businesses, elected officials, thousands of Maine voters, and community organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, Concerned Women of America-Maine and Family Watch International.

The website can be viewed at www.standformarriagemaine.com.
