Update on Caitlin Bruce, Victim of Coerced Abortion

I recently blogged about Caitlin Bruce,  who reportedly was the victim of a coerced abortion performed by abortion practitioner, Alberto Hodari. Bruce stated in a television interview that Hodari "ripped the life out of her".

Now, Operation Rescue has filed complaints against Hodari with the MI Attorney General's office and with the MI Department of Community Health, asking for investigations in to criminal misconduct in the alleged forced abortion of Caitlin Bruce last year.

Pro-life News reports:

Ms. Bruce filed a civil suit against Hodari in June. In her suit, she says she withdrew her consent for an abortion after seeing her baby on an ultrasound. She accuses Hodari and his assistant of holding her down and covering her mouth to muffle her screams while Hodari viciously forced an abortion upon her.

"We have filed the appropriate complaints to insure that the correct authorities are also investigating possible criminal charges and causes for discipline against Hodari's medical license," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

Judy Climer, director of Flint Right to Life, has also filed a separate, similar complaint with the MI Attorney General.

Bruce never filed her own criminal complaint because "she was young and knew it wouldn't bring her baby back," according to a story that appeared Sunday in the Flint Journal.

"While these complaints are too late to help Ms. Bruce, they may serve to prevent this horror from being inflicted upon other women," said Newman. "In fact, evidence shows that Hodari has likely forced abortions on women for at least two decades."

Read the Flint Journal article.

Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life, reacted today to the Caitlin Bruce case:

"I can't help but notice that no so called 'pro-choice' leaders are rushing to the aid of a black Michigan teenager who says she was held down on an operating table while an abortionist took her baby without consent," said Dr. King.  "The silence of the pro-abortion 'champions' is deafening, but the silence of the lambs slaughtered in the clinics is heart wrenching.  Once again, it's clear that
the abortion lobby supports only one choice."

  1. This is very important to publicize. Hodari's clinic is not far from where I live. Human remains have been discovered in his dumpster. There is just evil all around the abortion issue and around these clinics in general. If this woman was forced to have an abortion, and I can't imagine why she would say so if it were not true, then she was the victim of a vicious sexual assault and her baby should clearly be seen as a murder victim. After all, if the humanity of the unborn is dependent on the mother's feelings about the baby then this baby was a human being and murdered. It will be interesting to see how Governor Granholm, proabort Catholic, will handle this.

  2. As a former Sheriff's Deputy, I completely agree with the previous poster. This case should be investigated as a sexual assault AND homicide, which has no statute of limitations to my knowledge.
As a current monk/priest, my heart breaks for this woman and her child in heaven...I am sick and angry and so saddened that such a horrific violation was committed by a "doctor". It disgusts me to think that at one point in his life, he VOWED to "first, do no harm."
Please, let us ALL pray that some good will come from this tragedy, as only Our Blessed Lord can do.
