Ash Wednesday: Pope Benedict and Lent

Did you get your ashes today? I'm still wearing mine. Once again, I had the opportunity to assist in distributing ashes which, to me, is a great privilege. It is such a joy to see families approach the altar with everyone from infant to adult receiving the ashes. We are all on this spiritual journey together. During this great season of Lent, each one of us seeks conversion in his /her own unique way. We are all here to help one another not only make it through the season of Lent, but to assist one another in getting to heaven. Let's keep that in mind as we strive to meet our goals during this Lenten season. How can we assist others in our lives obtain that ultimate goal? Whether it be through prayer for another, a sacrificial act on our part, a word of encouragement or comfort, we are all companions on this journey.
