Blessed John Paul II on America

“America you are beautiful . . . and blessed . . . . The ultimate test of your greatness is the way you treat every human being, but especially the weakest and most defenseless. If you want equal justice for all and true freedom and lasting peace, then America, defend life.”

~ Blessed John Paul II

I think this is a friendly yet firm admonition for all U.S. citizens. He is basically saying that if we continue to lead the "the so-called 'First' World" in exporting "its spiritual toxic waste that contaminates the peoples of other continents"—as Pope Benedict XVI said at the African synod in 2009, definitely alluding to the revocation of the Mexico City Policy forbidding the funding of overseas abortions and the worldwide "culture of death" and murder—the U.S. will not be beautiful, blessed, nor great. With Our Lady of Fatima's intercession, it can be.

Mary, mother of America and vessel of life itself, pray for us!
