Video: McCain Supporter Chides the Press in PA

It isn't often that I post videos from CNN, but this one was good. McCain in Scranton PA: The third question he took was from a well-spoken woman who first thanked McCain for picking Gov. Palin. Then she turned to the rear of the room (where the press are located) and called out shame upon you for your attack of Palin. She followed up this comment by asking where are the 30 investigators into Ayers. I especially like the fact that she stands up for Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol, who is pregnant. A wonderful moment! Via The Gateway Pundit.

The Power of Prayer

Image
God is working in a powerful way in the pro-life movement through our daily prayers and sacrifices for those who are victims of the culture of death. Just reading Jill Stanek's blog today, I feel so encouraged by the little things that each one of us is doing through our daily efforts which reveal the importance of all of our combined efforts. In her post BornAliveTruth.org all over the news , she shares: I cannot even keep up with all the articles and news shows reporting on BornAliveTruth.org , Barack Obama's opposition to the IL Born Alive Infants Protection Act, our Gianna ad, and Obama's anti-Gianna ad. Thank you, Lord, for revealing the truth through your people. So many are deceived by the media bias and often believe the vicious lies that are promoted by the culture of death. In a second post, Jill posts on Lawsuit helps Google see light . Go read both posts and rejoice with me. Finally, be sure to stop by and read: Funniest hate mail ever . We have all received ri...

Obama continues to lie about abortion survivors

Image
Day Gardner, president of The National Black Pro-Life Union , makes the following comments and is available for interviews: Barack Obama voted against Illinois' Born Alive Infants Protection Act that would protect babies who survived abortion. He misrepresented his vote, saying that the bill he opposed in the Illinois State Senate was different from the bill that was passed by the US Senate and signed into law by President Bush. However, the National Right to Life Committee has produced documents that confirm the two bills were exactly the same. To make matters even worse, Obama is now attacking Gianna Jessen, a young woman who by some blessing, miraculously, survived being killed by abortion. Rather than applaud her life, he totally disregards her and ignores her passionate plea for the lives of babies who after surviving abortion--are strangled, suffocated, stabbed to death, or shelved until dead-- which amounts to infanticide. Barack Obama's position is far more extreme than...

Saint Hildegard of Bingen: Mystic and Visionary

Image
Saint Hildegard, Benedictine abbess, mystic and visionary, lived from 1098 to 1179. She was born at Bermersheim, south of Mainz in present day Germany. She was the tenth child born to a noble family. As was customary with the tenth child, which the family could not count on feeding, she was offered to God by her parents as a child oblate. A very gifted young woman, Hildegard began to have visions of luminous objects at the age of three, which she kept to herself. At the age of eight, Hildegard was placed under the care of the anchoress, Jutta, a relative, who lived in a nearby hermitage. In time this developed into a full Benedictine community which was subject to the male abbey of Saint Disibod. Hildegard received the habit at the age of fifteen and for the next seventeen years lived a strictly enclosed contemplative life. Her visions were later written down in a book called Scivias (an abbreviation of Scito vias Domini, ‘Know the ways of the Lord’). In 1136 she was elected abbess of...

Celebrating Catechetical Sunday

Image
Today is Catechetical Sunday. This year's theme focuses on, “The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church.” Those who have been delegated by the community to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect upon the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel as well as to rededicating himself or herself to this mission as a community of faith. Let us keep all of our Cathechists in our prayers. Patrice Fagnant-MacArthur of Spiritual Woman has a great article on Catholic Exchange , which explains today's worldwide celebration.

St. Matthew: Apostle and Evangelist

Image
St. Matthew was born at Capernaum. He was working as a tax collector when Jesus called him to be one of the twelve apostles. He wrote his gospel in Hebrew. His gospel, with its familiar references to the messianic prophecies, throws light on the continuity between the covenants. Moreover, his vocation is one of the most popular episodes in the life of Jesus, because of the personality of the one called the tax collector and the revelation of redeeming love that concludes and crowns the story. Matthew's position as tax collector equated with collaboration with the enemy by those from whom he collected taxes. Jesus' contemporaries were surprised to see Christ with a traitor, but Jesus explained that he had come "not to call the just, but sinners. "Mark and Luke call Matthew by his Jewish name Levi and Mark says that he was "the son of Alphaeus" (Mark 2:14). He may have been the brother of James, who is also called the "the son of Alphaeus" (Mark 3:1...

McCain leading in the Catholic Vote

Image
Following the party conventions and after a week of campaigning, John McCain has closed the gap significantly among Catholics likely to vote. Mr. Wagner of QEV, who undertook the landmark Catholic Voter Project for the 2000 election cycle and has been studying Catholic voter attitudes for more than a decade, points out that McCain has pulled to within two points of Barack Obama, 45-47 percent (8% undecided) among all Catholics. · In a mid-August, pre-convention QEV survey, McCain trailed Obama 40-50 percent, with 10 percent undecided. · This is a group Bush ultimately won 52-47 percent in 2004. · At this point in the 2004 campaign, Bush led Kerry among Catholics 47-46 percent. · At this point in the 2000 campaign, Gore led Bush 52-41 percent. Among religiously-active Catholics likely to vote, McCain leads Obama 53 – 39 percent (8% are undecided). · In mid-August, McCain led 49-42 percent (9% undecided). · Bush ultimately won this group i...

Saints of the Day: The Korean Martyrs

Image
During the persecutions of 1839, 1846, 1866, and 1867, one hundred and three Christians in Korea gave their lives as martyrs . The martyrs included clergy, but were, for the most part, members of the laity. They consecrated the rich beginnings of the Church in Korea with their blood. Among them were Fr. Andrew Kim of Taegon, the first Korean priest and pastor, and Paul Chong of Hasang, a lay apostle. St. Andrew Kim Taegon was born into a noble Korean family. He traveled to China to become a Catholic priest and he was ordained in Macao. When he returned to Korea, as the first native priest, he was arrested, tortured, and eventually beheaded. Paul Chong Hasang was a seminarian, aged 45. As a layman, he was one of the great founders of the Catholic Church in Korea. He was persecuted before he could be ordained. Reflection: "We have received baptism, entrance into the Church, and the honor of being called Christians. Yet what good will this do us if we are Christians in name only and...

Another great video from Steve Silvia.

Great Video on Biden and Obama!

It has now come to light that while Americans have been losing their homes, Barack Obama has been taking money from Fannie Mae. In the meantime, he has been blaming Republicans like John McCain for the Economic Disaster. Joe Biden Says It's "Patriotic" to pay higher taxes to help America recover. I agree with Obama's statement at the end of the tape, "Let's throw the bums out!" Those Democrats who took bribes from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac at the expense of those poor families who lost their homes should be kicked out of office. All Americans should be outraged! Going for the Gold: Shutting down Planned Parenthood

Image
Shutting down Planned Parenthood -- those words are like music to my ears. When I lived in IL (about three years ago) I used to pray and do sidewalk counseling outside an abortion mill with a a small group. Following our time commitment there, some of us moved onto pray outside Planned Parenthood in another location of the city. Two of the most dedicated people in that tiny group of prayer warriors were 70+ years old --and they were out there in all kinds of weather - rain or shine. I remember going out to the mill when it was below zero, with the wind blowing, wearing two pairs of gloves with every part of my body covered, (freezing) and these two went on to pray at PP afterwards. These people were and still are my heroes. I think of them whenever I read articles like this one and thank God for pro-lifers. Let's continue to pray, fast, and do everything we can to end abortion. God is moving powerfully in our times!

Obama continues to lie in attack ad against Gianna ad

Obama continues to lie about the Born Alive Infant's Protection Act and the infanticide he has been supporting for many years now. As a citizen of IL when this battle began, I know what happened and I fought against Obama's action through prayer, fasting, and pro-life activism. I know with all my heart that he is not telling the truth on this and continues to lie to get himself into office, where I suspect that he will abuse people even more for his own selfish purposes. The ad BornAliveTruth.org began airing on September 16 in NM and OH, and then Barack Obama's response attack ad that began airing September 18 in NM and OH... Obama ad Deception #1: Insinuating the BornAliveTruth.org Gianna ad was issued by the John McCain campaign, which it clearly was not. BornAliveTruth.org's web address was displayed at the top right of its ad throughout and included a disclaimer at the end in writing and audio stating, "BornAliveTruth.org is responsible for the content of thi...

Friday Political Humor

From Jay Leno: The stock market was up 400 points today, or as the Democrats call it - terrible news. Barack Obama said again today that he wants to raise taxes on the rich - that's provided by November anyone is still rich. That seems to be the theme: In a speech today, Joe Biden said that paying higher taxes is patriotic. The Republican strategy on Joe Biden? Let him keep talking. The Democratic-controlled Congress said they are going to adjourn for the rest of the year. They said regarding the financial crisis, no one knows what to do. Well, that's a ringing endorsement to re-elect them - "You're on your own! We're leaving." From Craig Ferguson: The Dow's going bananas . . . it's going up one day, down the next - it's like Sarah Palin's hair. Tough blow for Barack Obama. Yesterday, a key Democratic fundraiser switched sides. She said Obama was too elitist. She is none other than Lady Lynn Forest de Rothschild. She's worth a gaz...
