RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY

On this Respect Life Sunday, which also happens to be the feast of St. Therese, Virgin and Doctor of the Church, I have been invited to participate in the Pro-Life Blogburst. One year ago today, I moved with my husband from Illinois to Kansas. We both felt that God was calling us here to do his work although we were not clear at that time as to exactly what it was He was calling us to do. Within the past year, He has made it crystal clear to both of us what He has called us to do – to continue our work in the pro-life movement and to become more pro-active than ever before. Consequently, with His grace, we have both moved outside of our comfort zones to serve in this area. This is our apostolate and wherever He leads us we will follow.

The work He has personally called us to do here includes, but has not been limited to, the following: educating others about contraception, abortion, the culture of life, and the dignity of human life through adult education, personal witness, crisis pregnancy counseling, and this blog. We belong to and support various non-profit pro-life groups both at the state and local levels. We also pray and fast for pro-life causes. We promote the culture of life by voting for and supporting pro-life political candidates who live out their faith.

Why is this our issue? We are both traditional Catholics - reverts to the Catholic faith - who have lived in the culture of death and know how damaging its effects have been on the family and on our society. We have seen the results and we know that things must change radically if we are to once again become a culture that cherishes human life.

Today I will be blogging on the sanctity of life, the evil of abortion, and what each of us can do personally to promote the culture of life.
