    I believe the church should take a firm stance by excommunicating senator Biden and speaker Pelosi, who have expressed their radical pro-abortion views

    What about Senator ted Kennedy? Shouldn't he have been excommunicated as well for his support of abortion and the gay/lesbian agenda?

    I absolutly believe that the bishops or whoever makes this type of decision should at least consider the excommunication of anyone,especially politician, who, for the purpose of political gain,endorse such horrific actions against the most innocent of society.I know Mr Biden & Ms Pelosi's position and I feel it warrents looking in to. As for Mr Kennedy, I haven"t heard, but if he holds similar views,then he too should be held to the same standards. It troubles me that someone identifies themselves as Roman Catholic and then endorses such atrosities. Now I know that excommunication is not something to act on too hastily, but I do hope our religious leaders will not simply shrug this off and will reflect on it seriously. This is a grave situation. May GOD have mercy on us all.

Today is the feast of Saint Michael de Sanctis, also known as St. Michael of the Saints, a Spanish Discalced Trinitarian priest, the patron of cancer patients. Michael Argemir was born on September 29, 1591 at Vic, Catalonia, Spain. At age 6, he told his parents that he planned to become a monk and began modeling his life after Saint Francis of Assisi. Michael’s parents died when he was about ten years old. He then served as an apprentice with a local merchant. During this apprenticeship, he continued his fervent devotion to the Lord, especially to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. At the age of 12, he joined the Trinitarian Friars at Barcelona, taking his vows at St. Lambert’s monastery in Saragosa four years later.  Shortly afterwards, Michael expressed a desire to join the reformed group of Trinitarians and was given permission to do so. Today's saint, St. Lydia Purpuraria, was the first Christian convert in Europe, a businesswoman who dealt in luxury goods. She is the patron saint of cloth dyers. Saint Lydia was born during the first century in Thyatira, a town famous for its dye works in Asia Minor, famous for its dye works, (hence, her name which means purple seller). She was a seller of purple dye and was St. Paul's first convert at Philippi. The following is from the Acts of the Apostles: And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one that worshipped God, did hear: whose heart the Lord opened to attend to those things which were said by Paul. And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying: If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there.
