My Brief Interview with Sam Brownback
So, my husband and I cornered him and asked him the following questions:
Why are you supporting Sebelius for HHS Secretary?
Brownback's response: If Sebelius doesn't get this position, then the Democrats will be pushing her to take my Senate seat.
How can you, as a Catholic, support Sebelius?
Brownback's response: (appearing a little miffed) Look at all the pro-choice Catholics we have in Washington DC right now...
He didn't like the questions we asked -- especially the second one, so was obviously being evasive.
What can we conclude from this?
It appears Brownback is supporting Sebelius for political reasons -- to get her out of KS (The crowd cheered wildly yesterday when another politician announced with glee that Sebelius would no longer be governor of Kansas.) so Todd Tiahart (a wonderful pro-life Republican) can get his senate seat. The end result for Tiahart is obviously a good one, but do the ends justify the means? What about the well-being of our country as a whole?
Is it beneficial to have someone like the rabid pro-abort Kathleen Sebelius - who accepted blood money from late-term abortionist George Tiller then lied about (I mean "lowballed") the amount of money she accepted from him, and who was guilty of tax evasion (which, of course, was overlooked and forgiven) as someone in the position of HHS Secretary? How can Brownback call himself pro-life or Catholic and support such a woman? Do the ends justify the means?
I don't want Sebelius as our governor nor do I want her as our senator nor do I want her in DC as HHS Secretary-- a position where she can do even more damage, harming and hurting families with her pro-death policies, but I won't compromise my morals to get her out of these positions. I trust in God's Providence to do what is best. I know the power of prayer and I know that He can work miracles. I know that if we do His will and follow His commandments all things will work out for the best.
I have always admired Sam Brownback and thought of him as a man of high morals and principles, but this tells me that political games take priority this time, which I find very disappointing and disturbing. Jesus never compromised His morals, and if you are actually living out your Catholic faith, Mr. Brownback, you won't compromise yours, either. Tell the truth and live the truth. Expose Kathleen Sebelius for who she really is -- someone who is unfit to serve as HHS Secretary.
Please join me in praying that Senator Brownback will do the right thing.
By the way, we have written to both our KS congressmen, asking them not to endorse Kathleen Sebelius as HHS Secretary, which I encourage all my readers to do.

ReplyDeleteHow completely irrational and shortsighted can you be? She is the governor, and has a very good shot at becoming a senator if she does not go to Washington. President Obama controls the policy, and the HHS Secretary must support his policies. It doesn't matter who he picks, they would have to support abortion. Sebelius isn't going to do any more damage than anyone else Obama picks.
We in Kansas get an added bonus of a chance at a great pro-life senator in Todd Tiahrt, and another great pro-life Governor in Sam Brownback. It is the best possible outcome for the pro-life movement
Nathan,
ReplyDeleteI respect your opinion, but is it really in the best interests of the Republican party to endorse someone who is "in bed" with the late - term abortionist George Tiller and who advocates the killing and maiming of women and innocent children?
Is it ethical to endorse someone who is so rabidly pro-death that she would allow Tiller to freely (without penalty) perfom coerced abortions?
I personally know women who have been locked in rooms and forced to have abortions by Tiller despite the fact that they changed their minds when they arrived at his office.
By endorsing Sebelius, Sam Brownback also has blood on his hands.
The means in this case do NOT justify the ends.
As a Catholic "pro-life" Senator, Brownback has the moral obligation to tell the truth about Sebelius.
I realize that politics is a dirty business and full of corrupt people, but it doesn't have to be that way. As Catholics, we are obligated to tell the truth and to live out the truth in our lives.
As far as being "irrational", Christianity never makes sense when we look at things from a worldly viewpoint. Jesus was called "crazy" and "irrational" because he obeyed His Father. His actions didn't make sense to many of those around him.
On a practical level, I have a right to express my feelings and I was sharing how I felt about Sebelius. She is not fit to serve in any capacity -- to do that one must earn the respect of her constituents. She needs to serve the people and not rule over them -- forcing them to adopt her extremist abortion policies. Instead of serving the people, she is an accomplice in their murders. She doesn't know the difference between serving the people and killing them.
What does it say about Sam Brownback who is so eager to get rid of a corrupt governor like Sebelius and foist her on our entire country in a position where she has much more power and can hurt many more people? She is a danger to our society and has no business being in office.
Nathan, WOW, “How completely irrational and shortsighted can you be?” WOW, I bet you are a liberal! It is ok to have an opinion, just make sure it is the same as mine…
ReplyDeleteI happen to know more many people who are upset with Senator Brownback supporting Sebelius. Does this mean we won’t support Brownback in his run for Governor…, it depends on who he running against, but a lot of people are upset with him.
You either need to learn how to cuss to be a really good liberal, or you may want to consider sensitivity training.
I have to say that one little compromise of the truth is a bad bad thing. It is the crack that opens the door and one little compromise will lead to another and another.
ReplyDeleteIf Sam Brownback had the courage to never compromise his morals he would be blessed by God and wouldn't need to play dirty politics.
