Illinois Stealth Planned Parenthood Clinic Remains Closed

For more than 40 days, pro-life advocates have rallied around the clock to keep a stealth Planned Parenthood abortion clinic out of Aurora, Ill. A federal judge today ruled that the clinic’s doors will remain closed.

Planned Parenthood had plans to open the $7 million clinic Tuesday in the Chicago suburb. It had applied for city permits under a front company that hid the true nature and owners of the building. After a two-hour hearing, U.S. District Judge Charles Norgle denied Planned Parenthood’s request pending further investigation.

Eric Scheidler, communications director for the Pro-Life Action League, called the decision “great victory for life and a great victory for choice — freedom of choice for the people of Aurora to determine their own destiny."

Steve Trombley, president and CEO of the Chicago area Planned Parenthood, said it will continue to fight.

“We fully expect Planned Parenthood to go into federal court again,” said Scheidler. “Planned Parenthood is terrified of democracy. When the people are allowed to have a say in matters such as abortion — such as where an abortion clinic might be, what kind of regulations an abortion clinic might be under — they lose. So they try to circumvent the democratic process any way that they can.”
