Girl Scouts Ties with Planned Parenthood Extensive and Long-Standing

Girl ScoutsThe scandal surrounding the Girl Scout’s distribution of an International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) sex guide at the UN Beijing +15 Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) continues to grow. Some Scout mothers in St. Louis intend to ask the St. Louis Girl Scouts to pull out of the national organization.

The Girl Scouts continue to deny they had any involvement in the distribution of the brochure and have offered various responses at different times. They claim they did not “hand out” the brochure, though they were never charged with handing it out. They claim they did not look in the trash or otherwise “sanitize the room” before they used it and say another group could have left it. And they have said the brochure was simply not in the room.

  1. The larger issue here is whether or not GSUSA officially sanctions and supports the abortion rights advocacy of its international parent, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

So far, GSUSA statements completely downplay the presence of WAGGGS delegates at the UN Commission on the Status of Women meetings, and they won't address whether they support what took place. WAGGGS put their own delegate updates on their official web page. Take a look at the delegates "demanding access to safe, affordable, and accesible abortions for young people." http://www.wagggsworld.org/en/CSW54/Day6

Girl Scout parents and leaders, as well as Girl Scouts should bring this to the attention of their local diocesan youth ministry as well as contacting the National Catholic Committee on Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Girls at info@nccgscf.org to urge them to contact GSUSA and have GSUSA issue a statement that they do not sanction or approve of the WAGGGS advocating for abortions in the name of scouting.

  2. The whole thing is stupid. Just went grocery shopping this afternoon and ran into the Ambassadors, the Senior High Gals Girl Scouts. What a nice bunch of ladies. Didn't buy any cookies because I chose to stay on my diet.

This is extremism. Most of the GS in the Tampa Bay area that I deal with are VERY PRO LIFE. They have an award for it. This is extremism and literalism, both are bad for the church.
