Benedictine nuns at a French abbey that traces its heritage back to the 6th century have won a recording contract with Decca Records.

The sisters of Notre-Dame de l'Annonciation, outside Avignon, will record Gregorian chant for Decca. Their album Voice: Chant from Avignon, is scheduled for release in November 2010. “We never sought this, it came looking for us,” says the abbess.
