African cardinal to preach at pope's spiritual exercises




February 9, 2012. (Romereports.com) From February 26 to March 3, Benedict XVI will suspend all of his audiences for his spiritual exercises. It will consist of a week of prayer and will take place in the Vatican's Redentoris Mater chapel. He will be joined by leaders of the Roman Curia.

In charge of preaching is the cardinal from the Congo, Laurent Monsengwo Pasinya. He is one of the leading figures of the African Church. He's also a prominent voice in defense of human rights in his country, especially during the long dictatorship of Mobutu Sese Seko .
