New location unveiled for WYD 2013 main events in Rio

29 November, 2012 (Romereports.com) Rio de Janeiro's Guaratiba neighborhood will host the vigil on Saturday, July 27, and the closing Mass for World Youth Day 2013.

The organizing committee made the decision during a last minute meeting. The original location was scheduled to be the Santa Cruz Air Force Base. However, organizers felt it would not be able to accommodate the more than 2 million people expected to attend.

The world-renown Copacabana district will remain as the location for the first few events for  World Youth Day.
