Huckabee wins in Kansas; captures all 36 delegates
Today, I spent most of the morning at the Republican caucus. The time spent there was well - worth it, as the results were quite favorable for pro-life, pro-family candidate, Mike Huckabee.
Mike Huckabee crushed John McCain in Kansas, capturing all thirty-six of the delegates to the Republican National Convention from Kansas. He won in spite of the fact that both of the state's popular Republican Senators have endorsed Senator John McCain.
At the Republican Caucus, I thought it was quite interesting that during and after each presidential candidate's representative gave their speech on why their candidate was best suited for office, there was cheering, whistling, sign waving, and applause, for all, with the exception of John McCain. The audience was completely silent throughout the presentation on McCain and, at the end, there was only a polite applause and I think that was mainly because people were glad the talk was over. The silence was almost embarassing and McCain's speaker appeared uncomfortable with the audience's lack of response.
The majority of the Republicans in Kansas are conservatives who hold strong pro-life, pro-family values. When someone says he's pro-life but isn't 100% pro-life they recognize that fact immediately. They can identify a wolf in sheep's clothing. Huckabee is the only candidate who has been endorsed by the pro-life groups because he is the only candidate who is 100% pro-life, pro-family. Ron Paul comes close, but doesn't quite live up to Huckabee's record as I have shown in previous posts. Many people are also uncomfortable with Ron Paul's position on the war in Iraq.
As Republicans, we don't have to settle for anything less than the real thing. As pro-lifers, we don't have to accept second best. As intelligent, pro-active Christian citizens, we believe and trust in God to select the next leader of our country, and not the far left liberal media.
