John McCain Selects Sarah Palin as VP Running Mate

What a gutsy and wise move on McCain's part to select pro-life Sarah Palin, aka as "Sarah Barracuda" -- I love that nickname! Sarah has it all! Here is a quick overview of her qualifications:

  • 44 - year -old mom with five children
  • Strong Pro-life Christian who has a Down Syndrome baby
  • has challenged the influence of the big oil companies while fighting for the development of new energy resources
  • As Governor of Alaska, she has challenged a corrupt system and passed a landmark ethics reform bill.
  • has used her veto and cut budgetary spending
  • As the head of Alaska's National Guard and as the mother of a soldier herself who is about to be deployed to Iraq, Governor Palin understands what it takes to lead our nation and she understands the importance of supporting our troops.
  • has a record of bipartisan reform
  • A life-long member of the NRA who enjoys hunting, fishing, and Alaska history.
  • Sarah has served on numerous boards and commissions throughout the State, and stays active as a marathon runner, sports team mom, hockey manager and school volunteer.

My only question here is: Why isn't she running for President?

Not enough experience ... well... look at the inexperienced Barack Obama who has done nothing for the people of IL in his short span in office -- except to raise taxes, support baby killing, hang out with criminals and make deals with them, and lie through his teeth about what he's done to help the community. He's been a puppet, a "yes" man to the party of death and nothing more.

Sarah has served one month longer than Obama's been running for president and she has done more for this country than Obama has done in his lifetime. She's a winner!

And here is how she describes her husband, Todd Palin: "My husband was a lifelong commercial fisherman... [He is now] a production operator up in the oil fields up on Alaska's north slope, and he's a proud member of the United Steelworkers' Union. And he's a world champion snow machine racer."

    I almost giddy. Even more Hillary supporters will go for McCain now. Obama is no longer a near certainty. Heaven forbid something happens to McCain, but I believe Palin would rise to the occasion. She has the right attitude. Everyone knows Obama is NOT ready for POTUS, Palin is only for the VP. Look at Dan Quayle.

    I think this is just SOOOO amazing and exciting!!! Sara Palin is a REAL woman - not someone who has grown up in Washington and cut her teeth on politics - she knows what it's like to be "normal" - what better appeal can you possibly get? She is someone I can believe in - she didn't get where she is because it's a job and a challenge, she got there because she wanted change - LOL!!!

    So excited about this campaign now - Obama has a good run for his money going on now!!

Today is the feast of Saint Michael de Sanctis, also known as St. Michael of the Saints, a Spanish Discalced Trinitarian priest, the patron of cancer patients. Michael Argemir was born on September 29, 1591 at Vic, Catalonia, Spain. At age 6, he told his parents that he planned to become a monk and began modeling his life after Saint Francis of Assisi. Michael’s parents died when he was about ten years old. He then served as an apprentice with a local merchant. St. Gerard was born to a noble family in Staves, Belgium, in 895. He descended from a royal line of military men and at first felt a share in this call to arms. He trained for the army and, as a page of the count of Namur, he was sent on a special mission to the French court. There, Gerard realized that he was being called to the monastic life. He stayed in France and joined the Benedictines of St. Denis, abandoning his noble birthright and all his worldly possessions. He spent eleven years in France as a monk before becoming a priest. Following his ordination, he left for Belgium in order to found a new abbey on his own estate of Brogne.
